That's a problem inherent with known source material. We know so much about the characters the moment they debut. I knew Maggie was a lesbian. I knew Mon'el was not a Kryptonian and a good guy.
Where are the Asian characters DC CW?

hmmwell thats news to me: didnt know Maggie was an existing comic character; I thought the show just made her up to push more of their agenda ideals lol
but wow yeah, she's basically been around for 30 years huh? Interesting

Yeah, she's dating Batwoman in the comics, or was the last time I checked.

It can still be for people who don't follow or read comics at all, like me. 😛

Wasn't Miss Martian green in the Young Justice cartoon?

her looks are almost always and everywhere green. but thats because she hid the whole "im a white martian" bit. pretty much all her incarnations always have the "white martian" reveal, which ultimately does not change anything. she still keeps the green skin.

That was mentioned already as well, but I doubt there is that many people familiar with the character to make it a completely arbitrary reveal. I bet there isn't exactly few people that didn't know it before watching the episode.

As soon as they said "Miss Martian"
I knew she would be white and not this faux green.

It's really young justice that takes away the twist, 98% (made up number but probably ballpark) of the audience don't follow comics. Still I bet most people were surprised, eitherway it's how everything plays out from here, and not the reveal to the audience, that's the real treat anyway.

Correct. If anything your figure is low.

Even if I didn't know she was a white Martian before hand, the whole story of the white Martian who wasn't like the others was far to obvious an allusion to the reveal that I wouldn't have been surprised by it, same with her whole reason for fighting, made it so obvious what the reveal was going to be.

It was interesting story to see unfold, knowing that she's generally secretly a white Martian. There were clues, particularly the way they kept referring to her and J'Onn specifically as green Martians; which is a fair and accurate description, but it seemed like it was especially added to build up to that reveal.
It's sort of the same with Maggie, though they weren't exactly subtle; they made it clear she was gay quickly into her first episode, and they've laid it on thick between her and Alex, that the direction seems obvious. Watching this week's episode though, I did have to wonder if maybe they were making it intentionally obvious. They probably aren't, but it would be a great misdirect; introducing a character from the comics who is known by at least
                              some
of the viewers as gay, and lay heavy handed clues to suggest she and Alex would get together; only to have that lead nowhere near what seems like the obvious conclusion, and put some other character in a same-sex relationship - like Lena and Kara. I'm not saying that's what's going to happen, but it would be less expected; especially the more subtle way they've handled the latter relationship, in comparison to Alex and Maggie.
And it would be an interesting twist on the usually expected dynamic between a Luthor and a member of the house of El
