What is an Assault Rifle?

Bullets kill by making holes where they don't belong genius. But exactly what type of holes depends not on the type of gun but on the type of bullet.
Lead Round Nose (LRN)
Wad Cutter (WC)
Semi Wad Cutter (SWC)
Semi-Jacketed (SJ)
Full Metal Jacket (FMJ)
Semi-Jacketed Hollow Point (SJHP)
Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP)
Special (RCBD)
Just a few examples of bullet types and they all do different things a single gun can often fire multiple types. Educate yourself.

I know this is seen as a big zinger but on closer inspection the supposed hypocrisy isn't there. Yes, Lauren Boebert is a retard, but for both subjects Conservatives are calling out a misidentification, so they're consistent even if the gun thing (in this case) is petty. "Men aren't women, and the AR in 'AR-15' doesn't stand for 'Assault Rifle.'"

Either be fully automatic or possess a rapid fire mechanism such as a bump stock or binary trigger
Hold MORE than 30 rounds
Fire bullets that travel in excess of 2000ft per second.
Sounds like another type of weapon for 'mass' destruction.

Why does this semantic argument matter to you gun nuts so much?
It doesn't matter what that thing is called that is firing bullets that tear up the insides of a human as easily as tissue paper and is deadly.
These murdering assholes are using assault rifles in mass shootings and instead of being concerned about the lives lost you asshole gun nuts get all hung up on how that is the "wrong" term for the gun and do all you can to distract from what is really important in the argument which is on how to end gun violence.
And even if we used the proper terms for these guns just to humor you brain dead morons no doubt you would find some other way to deflect and move the goal posts.

Because words matter dumbass.
Wasn't it some stupid **** named warren who got all concerned about the exact meaning and wording of the law when it came to whether it was legal for Rittenhouse to have his AR? Do you recall something about that? I recall something about that. The stupid **** still dredges up up every now and then so clearly he understands the importance of semantics when it suits him.
If a law is to be crafted it better be goddamn exacting in its semantics.

If what I bring up bothers you so you are free to **** right off. Go hump the neighbors cat or something.
In any case it is not different. It is determining a matter via precise legal terms. Because that is how it is done.
You stupid ****

This term was coined by the media but never properly defined. It is also notorious for being misused by people who are ignorant on the subject of firearms. I think we should attempt to properly define this nebulous term. Especially in context of the law. Laws are meant to be rigidly and exacting defined.
What characteristics do you think a weapon requires to qualify as an Assault Rifle.
I think the weapon must;
Either be fully automatic or possess a rapid fire mechanism such as a bump stock or binary trigger
Hold MORE than 30 rounds
Fire bullets that travel in excess of 2000ft per second.
It is easily man portable.
Murderous gadget = Renault Clio

Don't understand this discussion.
Everything can become a murderous weapon. ☻
Was this THE answer? -

The point is deciding on a specific set of characteristics to properly define the term. For example there are specific characteristics that define 'what is a carbine?'.

Ok, you want to get me in a definition 'game'.
Doesn't matter to me today anymore…and after that happenings yesterday you come up with that ****?!
Perhaps you didn't understand what I was talking about:
Yesterday a crazy person with his car run into a school class downtown.
The teacher died, several students injured, some of them still fight for their lives.
It was such a sunny and good day…before that person got on a fatal rampage. -

Yet why feel the outrage over something that was out of your and anyone else's control. Outrage for the psycho, who was conditioned, would be more usefully channeled at the society that creates these nutjobs. Quick fixes, denial and desperate need for the establishment to retain the status quo does not help solve these problems.
In reality, everything we see and witness is just a reflection of ourselves and what has been created by who we are.

Though I partly understand what you mean.
I'm still alive.
P.S.
Sorry, still want to know where the adult cats are.
Looking for that post. -

Yes, but one day you won't. All of us will be dead gone by something or other. That people fear death so much, they take much of the phenomena of life out of context and distort it.
Anything can take us out at any time. It's tragic when it happens under the circumstances discussed, but it is still out of our control. It happened, how could it be stopped and how can it be stopped? Many in society praise military personnel, both past and present as heroes, yet how is the violent behavior and attitudes they engage in any different? Same with the cops.

You try to start a philosophy discussion while I'm looking for hardware.
Better don't.
Hey, good idea…you may contemplate about Kant.
And you will surprise me tomorrow with the parents of these baby cats.
Bonne nuit.
Oh, sorry…that was Voltaire…that ugly French.
