The point is deciding on a specific set of characteristics to properly define the term. For example there are specific characteristics that define 'what is a carbine?'.

Yesterday a crazy person with his car run into a school class downtown.
The teacher died, several students injured, some of them still fight for their lives.
It was such a sunny and good day…before that person got on a fatal rampage. -

Outrage for the psycho, who was conditioned, would be more usefully channeled at the society that creates these nutjobs. Quick fixes, denial and desperate need for the establishment to retain the status quo does not help solve these problems.
In reality, everything we see and witness is just a reflection of ourselves and what has been created by who we are.

Yes, but one day you won't. All of us will be dead gone by something or other. That people fear death so much, they take much of the phenomena of life out of context and distort it.
Anything can take us out at any time. It's tragic when it happens under the circumstances discussed, but it is still out of our control. It happened, how could it be stopped and how can it be stopped? Many in society praise military personnel, both past and present as heroes, yet how is the violent behavior and attitudes they engage in any different? Same with the cops.

The hardware is just that, going to hurt and blunt you. The philosophy aspect will give you more context and can soften the blow.
The secret is in the sauce with how you look and discern something. Its not all black and white polar opposites.
