Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Ash vs Evil Dead

The way he viciously beat that patient and orderly to death with his bare hands, even though it was a delusion, it was scary to see Ash like that, what the town think he is: A Monster. Maybe in an alternate reality, thats what he is.

Without a doubt, he definitely has it in him to beat up someone he thinks is evil with his bare hands.
What's important for the writers to keep in mind (and I think they're doing a bang up job of this) is that they have to keep Ash BELIEVING that what he's killing is evil. As soon as he starts doing it for the "joy" of it.well, then that's the dark side, my friend.

Thats exactly how I see him, just now he has that old man strentgh, like a bricklayer or a truck driver, or a large insane murderer whose been locked up for thirty years.
