When was the last time anyone saw a recently made movie with a rape scene like this one in this movie. -

Hollow Man, which was much more traumatic to be honest. Hollywood must agree because when I caught it recently on Starz, they edited it down to a second and a half of the bad guy grabbing the girl, cutting out completely the rape and horrible sobbing aftermath.

I agree that it was scary and intense, yet at the same time it never went "too far".
They did a great balancing job with that.

Well I guess first we'd have to define "recent." But they have a very short rape scene based on what the father saw in his nightmares.
If you watch nearly any season of American Horror Story, you're going to see a brutal rape, far more graphic than what was in his movie. But even if we stick with just movies, I'm assuming you haven't seen The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. -

Well, I obviously disagree. I generally have a very hard time with rape scenes. While I was uncomfortable with this one, I can name several that make me far more uncomfortable due to the length and brutality.

Mysterious Skin(2004) and Boys Don't Cry(1999) had some intense and traumatizing rape scenes as I recall. This movie's rape scene, the one that made it into the final cut as a flashback no less, was tame by comparison.
