How would one go about defending himself in a situation like this?

Man, posting a Washington post source. No bias there, eh?. Guess I should post a NRA source.
I'll just leave this here, an actually objective source:

BTW, you continue to ignore the fact that a woman the age of his daugther would be ver unlikely to be playing around with guns. -

When there are countless videos on youtube illustrating gun-owners' carelessness, stupidity and drunkenness with their weapons, why do you hold on to your pathetic delusions about their vigilance, intelligence and sobriety?
These videos include gems like a cop demonstrating gun safety managing to shoot himself - and there are many more of these tragi-comic performances. Of course you're cut from an entirely different cloth, and would never become another statistic, right? -

Corruption within the CDC is rampant. If they can suppress the true data on long term effects of vaccines on children, flu and pneumonia shots on adults and elderly, they would easily present data on gun deaths. I know more people who carry than don't. No one's ever shot themselves yet. Most shoot regularly at a range or on their property for practice. Typically, if a person carries a gun, they most definitely know how to use one.
There were so many moments in this movie that if he carried a gun, saying it's on him and not in a glove box hidden away somewhere, the movie would've been over. He even could've shot their tire out, then pulled away. There's a reason they made him gunless. What did the other three have? Greasy hair and bad words?

the gun-owner's daughter is statistically far more likely to have found the gun and accidentally shot herself, or her daddy, than it be used to defend the family against armed thugs.
Wow you just gave me a good laugh. Way to come up with magic statistics in your head. Before you mention the ridiculously stupid and biased link from the Washington post; let me make something clear. The idiotic "34 unjustifiable homicides for every 1 lawful homicide" quoted in that article is basically talking about something that maybe you didn't quite understand.
The criminal homicides that account for the "34" are mostly talking about INTENTIONAL criminal acts committed by people. These are mostly situations like gang members shooting each other, someone purposely murdering someone, a firearm that was fired while committing another criminal act etc. Accidental shootings make up a very very small percentage of the "criminal homicides."
Basically what that means is those were mostly all situations where people had the INTENT to kill and did so. They are not accidental shootings. In fact most of those shooting were committed by criminals who don't follow gun control laws in the first place. So more gun control laws would do absolutely nothing to stop most of those situations from occurring.
So the likelihood of "your daughter accidentally shooting herself" is a very illogical conclusion to draw by comparing justifiable homicides to criminal homicides. Maybe next time you can try to come up with a more believable argument when pushing your biased anti-gun agenda? -

If he had a license to carry a gun, and made sure both his wife and daughter knew how to use a gun, and carried three guns in the car, that would a sure fire way to get out of a situation like that.
But as it stood, his daughter not flipping off the driver would have probably helped.
Also when you see a car playing chicken in the on-coming lane, you know they're crazy. Maybe don't honk and maintain some space behind them. -

But seriously though even though there's no signal I think the 'emergency calls only' should be able to work right? I watch few videos, people involved in a self accident stranded no where without help filming their last moment until their battery wore out. No clue they could actually call emergency hotline. No offense to those people.

I could be wrong, but i believe that was the point. Tony didn't even put up a fight, knowing the men didn't have a gun. Even when he was dragged out of the car and left at the dead endzero fight in him. He's weak.

I don't understand why he never tried to speed off but that was symbolism when he did not put up the fight back at the restaurant scene where the mother tells susan that he is weak that part of the book shows his weakness

Regardless of what the overseas press may say, most Americans don't have guns. Not only that, but most of the ones that do have one do not carry it in their car. I've been on this planet for more than 50 years (in the USA, no less) and I have never owned a gun. I have no intention of ever owning one, either.

A lot of Vin Diesel fans have strayed onto this board. They sit in their mom's basement and delude themselves all of life's problems can be solved by a Bushmaster and some martial arts moves
