Watch the first episode, then a few more if you liked it okay.
Many times, watching trailers is not a good way to evaluate whether something is worth your time.
I predict there's an 80% chance you'll like it unless you don't like sci-fi, horror, suspense, and mystery.
Corrupt, secret scientific research is a big part of the story arc.
The characters are developed well. Strong performances by all. -

Well thats how my son explaned it to me except for the the comparison to IT. But it does remind me of it. Stranger Things copies from every science fiction horror movie basically.
