Nope.
I did not see any hype before watching it. I just saw the trailer and decided to watch it. I enjoyed it.
I have not seen or heard any hype since. Lots of people seem to make threads like this. I do not know why.

For me, there's nothing to compare it too. I generally dislike t.v. and serials of any kind. I didn't care for Breaking Bad or Lost and I'm just not interested in most of the tv that becomes popular. I tire of the "plot of the week" styled programming that infects most shows as the characters go from situation to situation in order to keep the seasons running on and on.
But this didn't feel like a tv show or miniseries. It felt like one long movie. It felt like a Stephen King book that was done properly, for once. Stranger Things was amazing to me and I don't know that anything will ever tickle my fancy again the way that this show did. -

Oh, I get it now.
When people say "over hyped" what they are really saying is that they did not enjoy it as much as most people and it is just a way for them to say that and sound superior.
Posts make so much more sense now

In all fairness to the OP, he did say he enjoyed the show, in his original post. Him calling it "overhyped" does not necessarily equate to him enjoying it less than everyone else.
My guess is he is referring to the countless online media producing articles on it. Maybe the OP is a novice to online media and isn't aware that is it's modus operandi. A new show appears, a juggernaut of online articles flood the web and then move on to the next shortly after. Online media has already moved past Stranger Things, and now they are flooding the web with articles on The Exorcist TV show. Nothing new to see here. One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces.
