good show when you turn off your brain.

My two sons told me to watch this they aren't kids either. I said is it worth watching to the end? They said "Yes."
I told them it was poorly written and unbelievable. They had to agree it was good if "you turn off your brain."
The show is pure fantasy. Obviously. But you know, almost every one of these things has explanations that don't exactly take a mountain of IQ points to figure out. For example if Will found some bottled water he could survive that long. Seven or eight days without food is unpleasant but hardly life threatening. Do you expect TV shows and movies to fill in every last mundane little detail, hold you by the hand and take you from A to B to C because you haven't got the imagination to do it yourself? Here's a suggestion: keep your brain turned on instead. -

the problem with that is they didnt show us any other life forms or sources in upside down. which brings another question how the hell that monster survived in that area with no food before the gate opened?

If there is an infinite number of universes, which is mentioned in the series, then there should be an infinite number of portals for the monster to go through. It just happened to be the portal to our world.

You seem to not only be suspending disbelief for supernatural elements but also eagerly doing the same for mundane details outside of the fictional parts of the show's universe. Doing so fails to hold the filmmakers fully accountable and open to criticism. -

I'm saying we as viewers can fill in obvious details and come to obvious conclusions without having to be spoon fed every little thing. Did we need to actually
see
a scene with Will foraging through empty houses, finding cans of food, opening a bunch of them (all spoiled) and then discovering a 12-pack or two of bottled water? He twists the cap off one and takes a sip, expecting it to be contaminated, is surprised to find it tastes okay, says "Pay dirt!" or something like that (and don't you dare tell me 'pay dirt' is something no kid would've said in the 80's) then loads the water bottles into his backpack. Are we too damn stupid to realize he must've found water
somewhere?
Yes, if it was a month instead of a week we'd need a bit more detail. But it wasn't. I really wish people would stop and ask themselves whether something has a simple, straightforward explanation before throwing it out there like "Aha! Gotcha! Bad writing!!!". 95% of the issues people bring up are questions they could answer themselves. If they got off their mental asses and gave it thirty seconds of actual thought. But let's face it, a lot of them are just looking for reasons to elevate their personal dislike to the status of objective truth. -

OK. I misunderstood your first comment to be along the lines of "this is science fiction so every mundane reality can be thrown out too". That forgiving mentality is rather prevalent at this board. Specifically with those who think this series is flawless.

No, it's not flawless. Nothing ever is. But you know what I mean, a lot of the criticisms people come up with are just plain dumb. The people posting them don't think too hard about it first, and more often than not didn't pay very close attention to the show or they could've answered their own objection. -

What amuses me about this is I have yet to see one single person say this show is flawless and I'm fairly active in following the threads.
Can you give examples of members stating the show is flawless? Or is this something you formed in your mind and you now convinced yourself it's true?
Inger, you must rot, because the times are rotten. -

Plenty of users have come up with one-in-a-million plausibility excuses for obvious flaws.
Hearsay examples wasn't what I was looking for. You didn't even offer up one example.
Many of those users have rated it 10/10. Pretty easy to fill in the blanks based on that behavior.
I see.
Well then, going by your own logic, we can safely "fill in the blanks" that you think 2001 ASO is flawless?

Completely agree.
However, I hate to be the bearer of bad news for you, here's a LONG list of 2001 ASO's flaws
http://www.imdb.com/board/10062622/trivia?tab=gf&ref_=tt_trv_gf
And that doesn't change the fact you assert anyone who gives this show a 10/10 (not me, my rating is only +1 higher than yours) you automatically assume they foolishly think the show is flawless.
Therefore by your own logic, you giving 2001 ASO a 10/10, we can all assume you foolishly think that movie is flawless.
It's a two way street, junior.

My experience with those people here, specifically you, is that once they feel pressured into abruptly and conveniently admitting it isn't flawless, they relent and even suggest they have explicitly pointed out flaws elsewhere. Otherwise, they/you continue with their ways of acting as though it is indeed flawless, as evidenced by their unwavering defense disregarding important factors like rationality, likelihood, plausibility, etc. -

And yet you still have yet to provide one example.
You have convinced yourself that if anyone even slightly questions your whining over the minutia you have made up out of thin air for this show, then all of a sudden they are brainwashed by the duffers.
You're cute kid, have fun with your fantasy.

And you are in bed with the duffers, whining louder than anyone because you don't know any better and lack critical analysis skills. I'm fine with my abilities. How about you?
You're cute kid, have fun with your fantasy.
In my fantasy, you actually have credibility. Pure fantasy, I know.

You and others here don't boohoo about the show to my satisfaction! Therefore I have decided anyone who doesn't match my volume of tears must be sleeping with the Duffers!
All right people listen up!
You better get in line with Junior's demands! I will be keeping an eye on you. I'm junior's new sheriff in town, if I see any of you even hinting you like this show, there will be hell to pay!
