in America if you shoot someone and they are die, you will receieved 12 years for manslaughter and out in 7-8

He was offered a plea deal for 7 years. When he turned it down and got convicted the sentencing was up to the judge. The whole system falls apart of the huge majority of cases don't take the plea so judges have a tendency to go overkill on sentencing for people who actually make them do their job by going trial.
