The moms stopped treating their kids like helpless victims and by the end the kids were a lot more self reliant and happier.

i was going to say the same thing. Trash this movie as you will, but it really brought to light some of the problems, and quite frankly, some of the straight BS that parents face now. It shows that helicoptering is destroying this generation.
