The man can make me laugh with the slightest gesture or raised eyebrow. He is so fearless and doesn't mind making himself look silly. In fact, he seems to invite it.
The episode with Armisen as the two "ladies" in the creepy house is some of the finest work he's done. -

He did a superb job as the straight man to Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder. How any of them kept a straight face during those scenes is beyond me.

I just love him. He's great in this. My only gripe is Armisen. I just tolerate him to see Hader and the rest of the actors. Jack Black was perfect in ep 2 as Jamison Friend!
Forget it, Jake. It's Cloudtown. -

I have to be honest.I totally agree with you.
I'm a
huge
Armisen fan (love him on Portlandia, which I consider comic genius) but his game just seems a little off so far. Thus far, it's Hader who is stealing the show and the series.

I agree 100%. I saw him on Conan a while back and he was doing a bit where he was impersonating Arnold "get to the chopper" Schwarzenegger as a baby! One of the most genuinely funny talk show guests I've ever seen!

Armisen seems much more 'in his element' on Portlandia, where he can kind of spread his wings more and evolve his long-standing characters. He felt a bit limited in this, for some reason.

If you watch the documentary Grey Gardens (and the movie of the documentary) you'll see just how spot on he was with his Little Vivvy (Edie) character.
I think Hader and Armisen are a fantastic comedy duo, I always loved their bits together on SNL (like the Queen of Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, hilarious!).
