I always cringe when Winston kisses her hand. Maybe he is doing it because she is a lady and not a queen. Regardless she should be kissing and licking clean his shoes to show respect from the whole Britain.
Does monarchy have to pay any tax on property or income? I researched that question but am confused by findings. -

My research confused as in who pays who more. Video explains how taxes work and it benefits people of Britain. Monarchy is not a burden. Once when visiting UK, locals told me it doesn't matter how they feel about monarchy/queen since she is cash cow when it comes to tourists. Video proved that point too. -

The Duchy of Lancaster is a portfolio of land, property and assets held in trust for the Sovereign in her role as Sovereign. It is administered separately from the Crown Estates.
Its main purpose is to provide an independent source of income, and is used mainly to pay for official expenditure not met by the Sovereign Grant (primarily to meet expenses incurred by other members of the Royal Family).
The Duchy of Lancaster is not subject to tax, although the Sovereign has voluntarily paid both income and capital gains tax since 1993. As such, the income received by the Privy Purse, of which income from the Duchy forms a significant part, is taxed once official expenditures have been deducted. -

That's a pretty common sentiment throughout history. After all, in a Universe controlled by God it is only logical that the "lucky people" who ended up being born royal were there because God willed it.

When the one of the queen mothers said "That they were appointed by God" made me sick. These Royal's are just lucky people. I have zero respect for them.
Would you have liked her better if she had said, "We royals are just regular folk who take advantage of everyone else." If you're brought up in the royal family that's what you've been taught to believe.

The coronation ceremony in the UK is a religious ceremony. Unlike a lot of other countries that have monarchs *, they are not "inaugurated" or "installed." The British kings/queens are anointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury just as priests and bishops are anointed. So, yes, God is very much a part of being the monarch of the United Kingdom (and Canada, Australia, New Zealand).
- as an aside, the UK is not the only country with a monarch and a peerage system. These other countries include, but are not limited to: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Japan and Jordan.

Its no luck to be royal. It was a burden for George VI., it was burden for Elizabeth. To be chosen by God means for them to take enormous responsibility for all days of their life. There are many hints in this sense in the series.

I hope you leave Elizabeth out of the people you hate. Very clear she wasn't stuck up and didn't want to be queen, but lead a more normal life.
In college, I had to read a treatise written by a Frenchman about Divine Right. They had philosophers or politicians or whatever write up lengthy rationalizations that God literally wanted the king to be king,
If you think about it, once you have power, the ultimate is to secure that your son and your family have power indefinitely. So that's what Kings have always done
In England, and also other European countries, the aristocracy as a whole thought they were superior to the "common" people. they were well bred. Born to their station. Better than everyone else,.
America had a great break with royalty and kings. Some wanted George Washington to be the new King and he declined, and we started with limited not lifetime terms, and with leaders elected, directly or indirectly instead of by blood.
This is a historic show. It would be good if instead of "hating" that you just learned about attitude in a different era and a different country. The Brits loved their royalty then, and love it still. -
