Side note - I was reading up on Dracula and Bram Stoker and Nosferatu the other day and I had always wondered about the name Bram … he was called Abraham Stoker. This is probably well known but news to me 😂

Starts with a major disadvantage, coming in the wake of a century-old classic and a remake that was a classic in its own right, but it's Eggers–it's guaranteed to be interesting and virtually guaranteed to be good.

Saw it today. There were some things here that I really liked, but some things didn't completely work for me. The cinematography was excellent. Costumes and production design were great and the score was a standout as well. Performances were hit and miss. I liked Willem Dafoe best, but thought Nicholas Hoult fell a little flat. I was expecting more out of Bill Skarsgård. Everyone else was mostly fine. The story wasn't always engaging though and the film felt overlong. They could have cut 20 minutes from it easily. Some scenes felt like that went on too long, but other scenes felt too quick. There were a couple really effective moments though. A mixed bag (or maybe a mixed coffin?), but still worth watching. 7/10

                        How did you feel about
the moustache? How about the ending scene?
Did you get coffin boxes for your popcorn?

I liked the moustache. I thought the ending scene was one of the best parts. I didn't have popcorn though.

What did you think about it compared to the original?
I appreciated that they stuck to not romanticizing vampires while he retained an element of the regal and resemblance to the images of Vlad Tepes, and they preserved, for lack of a better word, embodying the death and decay.
                                    I also liked the lilacs.

I've seen all 3 versions and it's my favourite. Orlok feels more evil and the whole thing does dread really well.

What I don't get is him willingly going to his death. Did he do it because he was tired of immortality?
I mean he wouldn't do it out of love for humanity.
