Considering the film was a product of Lefty Hollywood, it was nice to see them treat the story as well as they did. I have no problem not depicting potential hanky-panky between Kennedy and Kopechne because there isn't firm proof of that. But at least they had the guts to show that she suffocated in the back of the car while he slept things off and that is the smoking gun that shows how despicable his conduct was ultimately.
The film took the license of showing Joe Kennedy, Sr. still in a more active frame of mind at this point when he was by now virtually incoherent. But I think the film did hit at a bigger truth in general by showing Teddy taking the cynical, selfish way out instead of the honorable one because in doing that, he knew his father would approve and he'd finally have his father's approval. -

You liked it? I suppose if people aren't familiar with the story, it may be interesting. I didn't think it was anything special. It was Ok, but it offered nothing much that most of us didn't already know.
