Has Alexis always been such a bad actress?

I think she fit the original rory role and so she did well in the earlier seasons but she's not good in anything else I've seen her in. People who thought she didn't act well in a year in the life but is sooo pretty are we seeing the same person??? She looks ok at best and there is no way any of those hunks would be still so hung up on her for her personality is sure is lacking. Lauren graham on the other hand: great actress and beautiful. Though she didn't age well.

Out of her 3 boyfriends, Jess being unable to get over is the only one that is remotely plausible. He really struggles with letting people in, so after he let Rory in I could see it being hard for him to let her go.
In real life, Dean and Logan would both move on pretty easily from Rory. -

Considering after 10 years she and Logan have not stopped sleeping with each other, what makes you think it will be easy for him to move on and just forget Rory and not want to be with her? Jess and Rory have not had a relationship in over ten years, but they have remained friends and obviously support each other. Nothing wrong with just having that without a romantic connection.

Ha, I actually thought she was a little bit better than usual herenot that that's saying much. She's never been a good actress and if anything has only gotten more stilted and wooden as she's gotten older (see
Mad Men
). On the plus side, she's still purdy AF. -

I also think Rory was good in the first three / four seasons, than suddenly the high pitched voice happened and it got weird and very wooden.
Maybe she wanted the play the character wooden maybe that's what it said in the script and character description who knows.
Several people here said that Lauren Graham is a a way better actress, but I always thought Alexis bothered me less (don't hate me!!). I never thought Alexis was that good, but Lauren and that weird walk (with those very short steps, if you know what I mean) I never liked her interpretation of Lorelai that much, although after a while I came to think I just didn't like Lorelai
I really have difficulty deciding whether I dislike the actors or the characters. That being said; I love Emily (not the character but the way Kelly Bisshop plays her).
So maybe I just never warmed up to the characters. In that case, I preferred Rory back than and Lorelai in the Revival. -

Agreed, I thought Alexis was fine in the first 2 1/2 seasons, and the season 3 finale. She got weaker and weaker as time went on. I thought she was always eclipsed by Lauren and Liza Weil. Even when Paris isn't going off about stuff, Liza is just better.
Oh the baby voice, don't get me started on the baby voice. It's second in annoying habits only to her seemingly complete inability to hug someone as if they aren't burning her with the touch. Ugh.
Alexis is very beautiful, but she is very weak as an actress. She was always the weak link of the cast as a whole, I felt.
I've often wondered what the series would have been like if they had cast Liza as Rory, since she auditioned for it, even if it meant no Lauren. Ah well.
Hamilton cast expected to apologize for expressing concerns. What happened to 1st Amendment? -

I always thought the character of Rory became too big for Alexis's skill set as an actress.
The character, if not Alexis, was actually pretty amazing in Yale, like with the way she saved the newspaper and she was capable of tackling crazy big events and apparently she was successful hosting DAR events and such. I also understood why her teachers and adult figures think she's the best thing ever. In Star's Hallow, the community practically raised her and Lorelai so of course they love them and she's seen as their wunderkind. Emily and Richard used her as a proxy for the relationship they never had with Lorelai but with her interactions with them, you saw her intelligence, wit, and even emotional intelligence when she refereed the shouting matches between Lorelai and Emily/Richard (there were times where she told Lorelai offin her wayfor her behavior towards them).
However, I see amazing women all the time who don't have people fawn and be obsessed over them the way the writers do to Rory. After a while it becomes something we are told rather than shown and becomes unbelievable.
If one wanted to argue for it, we can look at it this way. Dean may have some regrets because of how their relationship ended and of course they were each other's first loves. He did seem a little over her though in their one scene together though he obviously still cares about her as a person in some capacity. Jess and Rory connect on a "I read some cliched famous books not on the school required reading list" way but they sort of ended things unresolved and continue to unresolve it, so that feeds into the obsession. I don't get why Logan and Rory continued their affair for so long and into their thirties unless they really enjoyed that dynamic or just enjoy the sex and banter that comes with carrying off an affair without the difficulties of maintaining a relationship, but they obviously had real feelings towards one another and we never got to see why they didn't just end up back together without Odette and the engagement.
I don't get why the Life and Death Brigade liked Rory so much unless they just say that because it's a situation where they're all guys and she's the only girl there. -

Has Alexis always been such a bad actress?
Yes, this is not news.
She's very pretty, though.
I remember reading somewhere, someone put it like this: "
Alexis seems to be herself and more natural in earlier seasons (1-3) but then suddenly, it's like she's acting. (4-7)
"
I agree with that statement, but I also want to say I sometimes think the opposite. I think she might have been bored with the whole thing (She's mentioned in several interviews that she was not sad that the show got canceled. I'm surprised she even did the revival, lol) -

The cynic in me thinks Alexis came back for the generous paycheck ($750,000 per Revival episode). She hasn't had a decent role in a while so I'm sure she liked getting a nice paycheck. But yes, she's never seemed passionate about acting, which is why I wonder why she hasn't got totally out of the biz and found another line of work. She has got cast in a Hulu series the Handmaid's Tale, which is a pretty heavy story. I'm curious if she can handle it, she will be playing opposite some great actors/actresses. Good luck to her on that. -

Right? I have a huge girl crush on Alexis, so I am fine with her not quitting the show business. I like seeing her in things, even the stupid ones.
I have to say, after watching 1 picture of her; and perhaps a 3 second close up of her face in a Hannibal Mask (
) in the Handmaid's Tale's Trailer I think she was much better than all her other work combined. She's not bad if the character's right.
