Perfect example of writers only caring about their own agenda…

Let me start by saying that I'm a writer myself so I completely understand the temptation to override characters in order to have a perfect moment or desired ending etc. But when you've created a dynamic set of characters over the course of so many years, with so many people invested, why the heck would you be selfish enough to END THE SHOW LIKE THIS.
Amy Palladino clearly only cared about PLOT. She wanted that nice (cheesy) parallel between Rory and Lorelai but it failed so miserably. Why? Because Rory is not Lorelai! And what a joke it was to see Rory's character just melt away in favor of Amy's idiotic desired ending. She was clearly just bitter that she never got her season seven (which compared to this crap storm was a masterpiece).
The fact that she always wanted to end the series like this really shows how little she cared about and knew her characters.

Absolutely, one of the great things about GG was the mother daughter dynamic, in many ways, we always expected Rory to be a bit better than Lorelei. Rory was Ivy League educated, had a better brain to mouth filter, was always more proper and could fit into higher society. We just expected her to be more than a townie who made bad choices.
Turns out Lorelei was the good one and Rory was the screwed up one. -

Constantly name dropping Lena Dunham and Noam Chomsky.
Also mentioning pretty much every rag that colluded with Hillary and the DNC during the past election: New Yorker, Slate, Salon, The Atlantic, NY Times, Washington Post and others I forget. You did just fine, Clarence. Now go get yo'self some hot cornbread!

I fond the Noam Chomsky name-drop especially cringe-worthy, and I LOVE Noam Chomsky.
Also mentioning pretty much every rag that colluded with Hillary and the DNC during the past election: New Yorker, Slate, Salon, The Atlantic, NY Times, Washington Post and others I forget.
Was I the only naive person who thought they would do something meaningful with the Stars Hollow gazette storyline, like Rory finally realising that Mainstream Media is not the right place for her and her taking the Gazette into a new direction focusing on serious local issues etc. and omitting the gossip. -

She won't be a teen mom. Maybe she can save enough money to someday buy the gazette. She will also let her mother in her child's life from the beginning, because unlike Emily,Lorelai is not overbearingand doesn't criticize her daughter's life choices. So, no Rory is not Emily. And she's not trying to be.

I agree. The last GG season was crap but the one before the last season was already crap as well, in my opinion. And this was just unbelievably bad.
I hate Rory I hoped she would be more like her old self again, the 16 year old Rory, decent and a bit older of course. But no There's no point making a sequel. She's Hannah Horvath!! How sad is that??
