Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

She had been a corporate wife all of her adult life and no longer was. Her one year evolution to be true to herself was believable. I loved the beep scene.
As for the others, it's like they forgot who the characters were.
Rory now a slut (apparently sleeping with married Dean wasn't enough, now she sleeps with engaged Logan and is so sad when his fiance moves in with him), unemployed, homeless. How real is that? She would have had a job, any job, at that point.
Metrosexual ladies man Michelle is now gay? If they wanted him gay, why didn't they make him gay in the first place?
Lorelai going to therapy and planning to go on a hike? The woman who hates nature?
Sookie giving up being a chef, which she loved, to be a farmer? And not even there are Lorelai's wedding?
None of this is believable. It was all very boring and slow, compared to the series. It could have been told in one or two hour long episodes. And the musical thing went on way too long. It's like they didn't know how to fill that much time.
I was very disappointed in the ending and certainly glad they didn't do that to the original. It feels like the palladinos are still mad and trying to trash the show.

Too much time was taken for pointless things which didn't drive the plot-the musical, the pool scenes, even the hike. Surely something else could have triggered Lorelai's need to get away for some soul-searching and Lorelai's memory of her father. Think of what could have been done with all that time!

I forgot about the pool scenes. People lying by the pool are someone they would have made fun of in the real show. They could have told more story with all that time, or done rational character development. Even flashbacks to explain how someone as driven as Rory can be such a total failure.

I wouldnt have an issue if the revival was longer. But too much done with too little time.
