Could James Gunn sit behind the camera for the new iteration of the Man of Steel? DC Studios writer Tom King seems certain of it, as he recently mentioned during an interview with the YouTube channel Comic Pop Returns. Around the 52:00 minute mark of the hour-long conversation, the writer talks about his experience with working for DC Studios and collaborating with the team led by the Suicide Squad director. While elaborating about how Gunn is as a fit leader for the brand, King casually mentions that, not only is the co-head of the studio writing the movie, but he will also be in charge of directing duties for the project.
We might just get the first good Superman movie ever. -

I would like a good wholesome Superman movie told through the eyes of common folks and recalling their stories on how supes helped them. My favorite superman stories is when he helped suicidal people and he helped disabled people and helpers a cancer kid stories like that I think would make a great movie if directed and told right. It’s a very human story. I personally identify and felt with those stories on a personal level.
Take a break from evil Superman / injustice / Justice league / wild ending threats, and just tell a good humanitarian movie.
No Clark Kent, only humans telling good stories about how Superman affects their lives through their eyes. -

You mean like his other DC offerings which were impossible to watch without cringing?
He's an embarrassing hack who will actually bring DC to new lows.

The only DC he's done so far is the Suicide Squad reboot and the spinoff Peacemaker series. They were both good and fit with his style. I don't think Superman would but maybe he's got some range. Or it'll suck.
