Patsy Wrote The Ransom Note

Why didn't the police do a handwriting exam, that would convict or rule out the parents, because no one would read a 3-4 page ransom note, we read the first few lines and that's all, my dad sends me a 3 page typed out letter with Bible verses and stories, I read the first few lines, then I toss it out, because I don't have the patients to read 3 pages of anything

They did comapre handwriting and couldn't rule her out. Plus the fact that there were "practice notes", still on the pad(that originated from the house)like the author was trying to mask handwriting or mistakes. The term attach in the note was particularly odd to me, and not generally something a 'crimianal' desperately seeking 118k would use, but moreso a weathy matriarch would. That and the fact that the wood used in the garret (sp?) was also from her own stash of paint supplies, 1/2 of a paintbrush handle, if I recall correctly.

I think Burke killed her, Patsy covered the whole thing up and wrote the ransom note, and John initially didn't realize what had happened but became aware of their involvement at some point the morning of the 26th. Somehow, Patsy convinced him to go along with it - probably to protect Burke but primarily to protect themselves by association. Burke had a history of violent and inappropriate behavior towards JonBenet, and they knew about it but failed to adequately protect her. Patsy seemed like the kind of person who would have been embarrassed to have a child with special needs, or on the autism spectrum. It wasn't as commonly talked about in the 90s as it is today, and a lot of people didn't want to acknowledge that their kids were on the spectrum. The fear of people finding out that there was something "not right" about Burke combined with the overwhelming guilt that they felt about their failure to do something about it, resulting in him actually killing JB, were enough to motivate them to go through with the ridiculous, over the top coverup. I also think Alex Hunter knew that Burke killed JB and cut a deal with the Ramseys not to pursue it.

True. But what makes you think she did it? I believe more that he got mad and hit her with an object, prob. that flashlight. But it is possible she did it and next to him I'd place her. An intruder doing this is silly

I remember when it happened a big theory was she hit her for peeing in her bed. But I thought that theory was debunked
The CBS special showed I child could cause that damage with a MAG-Lite (flashlight) so it wouldn't take a lot of force, whomever did it. She was clearly loaded after the murder when she did the CNN interview, prob. on Valiums, Xanax, or something similar (I've seen a ton of people on similar drugs and she exhibits all the behaviorslow speech, eyes glossed oversaying off the wall things, etc..). I wonder if she used such drugs before? Hence, not being in control of all her factions and accidently hit her way too hard. Or normally wouldn't have done that. Juts a thought
I do not believe there was some abuse going on by both parents that went wrong and she died. Just doesn't "fit." The site below has some interesting info. I wasn't aware of, but it basically says she died for such reasons. Their basic cover-up theory does make some sense, however

I think the problem with Patsy not doing it is that she'd have to garrotte her daughter and would a mother really do that to save a son? The garrotte thing looked pretty elaborate & nasty
I'm more for the theory that she came back from the party loaded, flew into a rage over the betwetting and accidentally killed her. Then still in a frenzy she staged the whole elaborate cover-up.
If Burke had accidentally struck JonBenet unconscious, wouldn't a mother's normal reaction be to phone for an ambulance? Why kill her further?
However if years & years of rage and frustration over trying to mold JonBenet into this beauty queen 'doll' had built up then it's possible that she'd have the aggression needed to garrotte her daughter in the cover up.
Nobody really knows what went on inside that family
Or a stranger did it. In the unsolved Sam Sheppard case 50s it was only years later that Richard Eberling emerged as a strong suspect -

She took what she knows to the grave. As will John.
BurkeI don't think he knows or believes he did it. He's obviously "special" and may in his own mind think he didn't do anything or was told by Patsy so many times he did nothing wrong he believes it.
I posted on another board about his obvious involvement and got responded too that he had nothing to do with it or his parents so there are plenty of people that still believe some whacky intruder theory, who wrote a three friggin page ransom note with words like "attach" and "hence" did it -

Did the kidnappers write the note before they killed her, and then decided to torture her? And risk being caught?
Did they write the note after they killed her? Assuming no one would ever look in that room?
And why would the "small foreign faction" come to Boulder, and only target John's bonus? -

You're forgetting how much that "small foreign faction" just had to put in said note how much "respect" they had for his businessand to tell him to "use that good Southern common sense" and not doing anything stupid

She definitely wrote the note. I watched a 20/20 segment on the JonBenet case and a handwriting expert concluded that it is extremely likely that Patsy wrote the note because there were tons of similarities in her writing and the writing in the note. Burke accidentally killed JonBenet and his parents covered up the crime. Period.
