Drive seemed to pickup a bit more mainstream popularity, if I recall correctly. But with Bladerunner 2049 (which I actually liked) and Only God Forgives, I think I've seen enough of Ryan Gosling acting pensive.

You have a point there, he doesn't exactly have the greatest range acting wise. But he is quite good at
      subtle
      . Refn quite likes that.

A few months ago I fell asleep on a movie. The player kept going playing movies i guess were related to what I was watching. When I woke up it was in the middle of Mandy. And I was like WHAT THE FCUK? THIS IS MANDY? WHY DIDN'T I WATCH THIS A LONG TIME AGO?

I hope you watch it from the beginning when you get a chance, if you haven't already. I think it's Nic Cage's best, and that surreal, psychedelic style is gorgeous and distinctive of that director's work. I think Mandy is his best so far. He also chooses a certain style of acting in his movies, so the trippiness is a whole package, not just visually or story-wise.

I agree the role was meant for Nick's type of over the top dramatic psychopath style he is very skilled at doing. Another actor whose great at playing psychopaths is Jack Nicholas.
No I didn't go back to watch the movie from the beginning. Maybe I will one of these days. I think I saw enough of the film. I'm satisfied with it.
Benjamin Loeb cinematography isn't gorgeous in my opinion because I'm not that twisted in the head. If you like intense, bloody, horror movies that involve revenge and some characters being dismembered amd the entire religious cult overtones, then yeah, you should love Mandy and watch it repeatedly.
