Of the 8 episodes, only 5 were good. Episodes titled Summer School, Heist and Alone just seemed thrown in, didn't add to the overall story at all or had any character develpment. I liked the zombies a lot. They reminded me of the zombies in Dawn of the Dead (2004).

I have Dawn of the Dead on DVD but not watched it yet. Are you a big fan?

Of Dawn of the Dead (2004), yes. I also really liked the infected in the 28 Days Later movies. The zombies in Black Summer were kind of a combo between Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later. More like Dawn of the Dead though.
You should watch Dawn of the Dead. It's a really good movie. It has a solid plot, great pacing and interesting characters. Very gory though.
