Yes Jason Todd Robin came back because one of the Superman’s started punching the walls of reality in a temper tantrum or something. Comics are silly. 🙂
They did bring back Johnny Alpha and continued his adventures but the strip has been largely retired since the death of Carlos Esquerra. It’s just occasional one offs now by other creative teams which are set in Johnny’s past with Wulf. Remember Wulf? 🙂

      Do I remember Wulf!?!!?
But yeah, Robin came back because Ra's-al-ghul took responsibility for his death at the hands of the Joker back in the 80's and dipped him in some rebirth goop that drove him mad (But he's fine now!).

But that was all caused by a Superman punching the walls of reality whilst having a hissy fit, right? 🙂
The only thing that I bought from Forbidden Planet the other day was this which was in the sale…

I don't know much about Superman Bobby
I like him when he's a baddie though
I wouldn't buy anything out of Forbidden Planet personally Bobby
I like small local stores, nothing against FP but it's far too mainstream and caters to populism (Which is fine, but not unusual enough for my tastes).

It wasn’t any of the main Superman’s…hang on I’ve found it, it was actually a Superboy.
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superboy-Prime
I’m not that keen on Fobidden Planet either, Juan.
I enjoyed it back in the 90s when geek culture really was geek culture. These days though it’s just narrow aisles filled with endless ‘pop culture’ tat.

Also I wouldn’t ordinarily buy anything from there myself, but that book for a fiver was worth it I thought. 🙂

You do like your books Bobby
I think Superboy and Robin used to hang about in their own offshoot set of comics. I read them online once (Just to say that I did) and it was very 1970's kinda stuff 🤔

Well you have three different types of Superboy I think.
There’s the one who was a younger Superman back when he was still in Smallville (this was pre-Crisis continuities I think).
Then you have the Superboy’s who exist alongside Superman and team up with him from time to time (ie that clone, Clark’s son etc. these tend to exist in post crisis continuities).
Then you have Superboy Prime who as far as I understand it is like Capaldo. He knows it’s all fictional and will happily break the fourth wall and change continuity as a result.
My DC comics knowledge is very sketchy as I was more of a Marvel person growing up but others can feel free to correct me. 🙂

The ones I read were just Superboy being awesome and going on day trips with Robin doing teenage hero adventures like bank robberies and the like with one story where they had to save their dads (Stepdad if you are like that) and go surfing at the end.
Not really my thing but harmless enough stuff for alter boys to read before mass

Was it called Super Sons, Juan?
That’s a relatively recent run featuring the actual sons of Superman and Batman.

Yes but what I’m saying is that Superboy back then was Clark Kent pre Superman days, which in the timeline was before Robin who would have been a toddler then. So did Robin go back in time or did Superboy travel forward?

OK, dagnammit Bobby I had to search for stuff I read years ago to snuff this query out.
                                    World's Finest #154
(1965) introduces us to what will later be known as
                                    Super-Sons (Earth-154)
but who were just known as Super-Sons when they came out.
I read all of their stories on a digital library years ago and that's how I am aware of them.
After Grant Morrison killed Batman it seems lots of old stories have been reopened and fair play, but I'm done with the mishmash of stories all fighting to clamber to the top of a pile which isn't very impressive at the moment.
Damian was a nice thing to introduce but after Red Hood, Batman Inc and all that jazz it's time to cull it back to a working story.
Love the callouts, but it's far too hardcore fan specific and really waters it down in a world of instant information if you have just a couple of clues to find it.
Great for some, but kills an interest for others - like me

but who were just known as Super-Sons when they came out.

Ah I see. I appreciate you finding all that for me Juan because it was confusing me. 🙂
I like a nice stripped back continuity too. Comics should reboot every 20 years or so and have a real time moving timeline. Each continuity could have a nice end point. Never mind all of this Super Superboy bashing the walls of reality or The Flash going back in time and F-ing everything up. 🙂

I have no problem eventually showing you stuff Bobby, and you are knowledgably richer in the topic for it, but the amount of useless information my mind stores over the years which it will probably never need to use again is quite staggering and slow to access when it's buried under tonnes of years of dust from other things which were looked into afterwards.
It helps with the odd homage, trivia or in-joke (And thanks to all the others out there who point out the many that pass me by!) but with modern takes on well respected characters and stories just butchering them up and blaming the audience for not liking them it's all gotten a bit farcical.
I'm all for a black C. Auguste Dupin, Sherlock Holmes, Arthur J. Raffles or Arsène Lupin in a gender flipped anime set in space with crossover episodes against a Borg infested Togekiss working with damned spirits of the Adipose while a xenomorph cluster is brewing beneath them all unknown to anyone but Alf and Groot who are playing the whole scenario out on a games console
But wrap the story up at the end and call it quits then.
If you have to steal characters to tell your ongoing story, you have no story
Anyways, in amongst those stories with Superboy and Batman Jnr there is a surfing one

It is just like our Doctor Who stories isn’t it, Juan. Sure we borrow characters but we put our own spin on them to make them our own whilst simultaneously creating our OWN characters. 😊
