Hunting and the Big Myth

Of the 13 people I know who go deer hunting, 3 actually kill only one during season, dress it at the site, take it home and butcher it, keep the meat and also give some away. The others either do it for sport, or don't kill anything.
Where I live, the herds have increased year-after-year. The past two years does have given birth to twins and trips. It's rare in our area to see a doe without two. They have devastated our hydrangea, stripped the bottom trunk of any foliage on our arborvitae, have eaten all the leaves from our forsythia over and over, and are even eating the hollies (mostly the male bushes). We can only plant certain flowers. They've eaten the echinacea and shasta daisies, I haven't seen our stella d'ora day lilies in years because they chew them to the ground. I can go on and on and on. In short, they play havoc with our landscaping. One of my dopy neighbors started feeding them during the Summer. I wanted to kick him. I wish the coyotes would come back in the neighborhood and keep the deer at bey. I don't mind if they eat a few rabbits or two. -

We have deer here, but I've only been to one place where I got to see them, on one of the islands and they are so beautiful

While I find people who go on about trying to deal with the supposed overpopulation of animals in their regions as to why they hunt to be morons, I do take issue with the obvious bias this article presents as well as its sweeping generalization of people who do hunt.

Well, that's mostly true for larger animals like deer, elk, etc. But carnivorous animals don't solely go for deer. They also eat birds, rodents, other carnivores, or fish. The article seems to be focusing only on deer hunting.
One topic you won’t hear hunters discussing is how many animals they injure but fail to kill. Estimates by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, members of the Maine BowHunters Alliance and other groups put the “wound rate” for bowhunting at an astounding 50%. An article in Bowhunter Magazine admitted, “It is disquieting to know that we probably wound one deer for every animal harvested.” A piece in Western Bowhunter admonished, “Don’t talk to anyone about wounding animals, especially in public places or among non-hunters.”
Not every hunter is a bowhunter. In fact, I'm pretty sure most hunters don't hunt with a bow. The writer of this article seems to have done a bit of cherry-picking in order to come up with an argument against hunting.

As the climate change alarmists increase their attack on the consumption of meat, the number of hunters, and the justification for it, will only grow.

Too much abuse is going on behind the scenes.
Definitely needs stricter management to protect animals from constantly being abused by cruel handlers who have no consideration for the suffering they inflict

Hunters do have rights. I just have a problem with someone who enjoys killing

Hunting isn't necessary unless it's your only means of survival

Hunting is cool. Hunters were respected throughout history, because they were the badasses who got meat for the group.
That's why professional athletes rub black paint under their eyes. They claim it's so the sun doesn't reflect off their skin but that's a lie.
They do that because hunters used to kill an animal, and then rub the blood under their eyes.
