When it comes to the Amount and Level of Negativity of U.S. Presidential Elections, Donald Trump really showed in the last 2 Elections that the Amount and Level of Negativity can just go WAY TOO far.
Now both sides in both of those Elections were definitely WAY TOO Negative towards each other (most definitely!) but the Amount and Level of Negativity that came from Trump in both of those Elections was hands down without question the worst and went WAY TOO far.
Honestly, I really think that there needs to be rules when it comes to the Amount and Level of Negativity that Presidential Candidates can show during Presidential Elections.
There has got to be lines and boundaries in them that Presidential Candidates just cannot cross when it comes to Negativity. -

"because that's what the public wants."

I disagree, I think that what the Public (or at least a Majority of them) want Presidential Candidates to do is talk about the issues and stick to the issues.
I think that what the Public (or at least a Majority of them) does not want Presidential Candidates to do is behave like children. -

It isn't possible to eliminate negativity from politics. If you disagree with someone's policies it is because you view them as a negative and expressing that is part of your job if you are running for office. Even if you just wanted rules to cut back on negativity there isn't any impartial way to police that so it's not practical.
