I wonder if the Committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capital on January 6th will call Donald Trump himself to testify.
I really hope that they will.
If they do and Trump refuses to show up and they hold him in contempt because of it….oh man! -

They owe it to the country to have him testify.
And he continues to hide and send out his 'alpha male' remarks.
Cheney is calling his bluff, so to say:
President Trump continues to make the same false claims about a stolen election with which he has misled millions of Americans. These are the same claims he knows provoked violence in the past. He has recently suggested that he wants to debate members of this committee.
This committee's investigation into the violent assault on our Capitol on Jan. 6 is not a game. When this committee convenes hearings, witnesses will be called to testify under oath. Any communications Mr. Trump has with this committee will be under oath. And if he persists in lying, then he will be accountable under the laws of this great nation and subject to criminal penalties for every false word he speaks. -

Oh for God's sakes! It's a public building! People act like The White House is a living breathing soul. If hundreds of people show up to break into it, stand out of the way! No need for all those people to die unnecessarily cuz they trying to protect a building from harm?
Sorry that was stupid how people died trying to protect a building that can be repaired. -

If the executive privilege issue isn't settled in Trump's favor, I expect Trump will take the 5
th
Amendment. When a defendant does this, he doesn't have to answer any questions.

It's a little more than that, When a defendant pleads the 5th Amendment….It is because the answers that he or she give if they did testify may implicate them in a crime.
If Donald Trump pleads the 5th then he is confirming that a crime did indeed happen on his part. -

Not necessarily. Jurors are instructed not to take exercising the right to refuse as an indicator of guilt. In this case, the reason would obviously be the stripping of the right of executive privilege. That has never been done before and might not survive in the Supreme Court.

I agree. I don't think the riots would have happened if he hadn't harped about the election being stolen
