U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday said social media platforms like Facebook (FB.O) "are killing people" for allowing misinformation about coronavirus vaccines to be posted on its platform, as the administration continued criticizing the company.
"They're killing people. … Look, the only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated. And they're killing people," Biden told reporters at the White House when asked about misinformation and what his message was to social media platforms such as Facebook Inc's.
COVID-19 misinformation has proliferated during the pandemic on social media sites including Facebook, Twitter and Alphabet Inc-owned (GOOGL.O) YouTube. Researchers and lawmakers have long accused Facebook of failing to police harmful content on its platforms.
The company has introduced rules against making specific false claims about COVID-19 and vaccines for it, and says it provides people reliable information on these topics.
“We will not be distracted by accusations which aren’t supported by the facts," Facebook spokesman Kevin McAlister said on Friday. "The fact is that more than 2 billion people have viewed authoritative information about COVID-19 and vaccines on Facebook, which is more than any other place on the internet.
"More than 3.3 million Americans have also used our vaccine finder tool to find out where and how to get a vaccine. The facts show that Facebook is helping save lives. Period," he said.
Twitter and YouTube did not respond to requests for comment.

now if the public could sue Facebook and its tiny twisted sister FB in a class action for pinitive damges caused by Vax misinfo, i'd bet trump's life that all this alex jones inspired fakeinfo gets removed in under a minute.

He would have to define misinformation, the source and the agenda he has.
He wants the sheep to toe the line.

Honestly, I stopped taking coronavirus, including delta variant, seriously. It's not that Facebook or other social medias "misinform" or "help" people, it's because health experts keep changing information. They're the reason why I stopped taking pandemic seriously. I doubt they know what to say or do. I'll give them a year to change my mind.
It's funny how we're gradually moving on from pandemic and suddenly "DELTA VARIANT! DELTA VARIANT!" and not to mention, it's not really new, it just hasn't been named and it's been around since the beginning. I'm not falling for their fear mongering.
I'm just done.
Though, it doesn't change the fact that I do wish everyone safety from this chaos.
I hope a bear throw a book at you, moon at you, and do a tap dance wearing a thong and leather boots. -

It's not that Facebook or other social medias "misinform" or "help" people, it's because health experts keep changing information. They're the reason why I stopped taking pandemic seriously. I doubt they know what to say or do.
They want a one track narrative on the airways and all it boils down to is control.
Too many contradictions, conjectures and mixed signals over something that can't ever be an absolute, and it was never that a big deal to begin with, only through MSM marketing and fear hype.
This Delta variant is no doubt infectious, all coronaviruses are, its just not that deadly like the narrative wants us to think. The brainwashed lemmings still scare easy though.
Though, it doesn't change the fact that I do wish everyone safety from this chaos.
People can be their own worst enemies and perhaps need to keep safe from their own delusions.

If people still think this is about a virus they need their head examined.

Update:
President Joe Biden on Monday walked back his comments about Facebook "killing people," but called on the company to work harder to remove misinformation on its platform.
"Facebook isn't killing people," Biden told reporters at the White House on Monday. "These 12 people are out there giving misinformation. Anyone listening to it is getting hurt by it. It's killing people. It's bad information." The president was referring to a report published over the weekend that found the majority of anti-vaccine misinformation originated from 12 people on Facebook, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Biden said he hoped Facebook would not take his comments "personally" but use them as a catalyst to remove misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccines.
