The same way the 70s glam rockers did.

Glam rock bands from the 60s and 70s paved the way for the 80s bands. David Bowie is a prime example. It was also the beginning of the sexual revolution where it was cool to be bisexual, wear makeup, platforms and women’s clothing. Watch The Velvet Goldmine movie.

David Bowie was the only glam in the 1970s.

No there were many. T Rex was one of my favorite.

So why is it that bands wore makeup and were not called queers but today if a man wears makeup like those guys did, people label them as queer???

Because performers are allowed a certain amount of grace. Whereas your average Joe isn’t.

I guess I can accept that as an answer after hours of endless random comments from the board talking about everything except my question.

I only responded once in the thread and now this one.
                                  The Rocky Horror Picture Show
                                  Queen
Glam was a celebration of being a misfit.
You could be as outrageous as you wanted on stage.
Politics play a part also. You had to do what the record labels saw as commercial appeal.

Anyway, among the nonsense you posted, this was on interest.
Politics play a part also. You had to do what the record labels saw as commercial appeal.
Queer was mainstream appeal back on the 1990s for record labels? But now nobody likes queers. Not even queers like other queers.

duh fuq? It was "mainstream" all the way back to Shakespeare
and that was like the 1950s!

Honestly all those groups other than like 4, were mainstream appeal cuz I'd only knew of like Bowie, Liberace, Elton John and Little Richard openly doing queer stuff.
