"Government funded" should be called "Government redistribution of confiscated wealth".

        Bingo!
Anything the government gives to one person they've taken
        (stolen)
        from another person.

I have always worked for government funded healthcare organizations and I think it's a great use of money.
However, there's huge amounts of money, trillions that go to things most of us would not agree with.
I recall when Regan was working on the Star Wars program and next to nothing was done on it and it just went way. However, giant amounts of money were spent to have nothing happen.
This is the fault of the population.
Generally speaking, the average person does not believe in having people like them in power. The country worships rich people and not average people. So, we still have royalty types deciding what to do with money and policy.
Until people start voting for their own type of people, it will stay the same.
One reason people liked Trump is because he speaks like a normal person but he's really and always was a rich person. People need to fund and back actual normal people.
I say the same thing about people who protest cops. Are you guys going to become cops?
          Nope.
That's because "other people" become cops and so the protest types never get into the police force, so it's the same cycle over and over.
That's some kind of American thing, all talk, no action.

Some things the government spends money on are
            good,
            some are
            bad,
some are stoopid, and some are outright
            criminal!
            But regardless, it's
            not
their money they're spending. It's the
            taxpayers'
            money.

There needs to be a way to deal with it.
The government isn't a thing, it's people, and typically people who are not average.
There needs to be an arbiter kind of organization to see what needs to actually be done.
For instance, there's a lot of UFO news lately. Some people believe the US is trying to make technology that works like a UFO.
Supposedly, they have dumped trillions of dollars into this.
Let's pretend that's real and let's say, it's not working.
It's that kind of crap we need to get a handle on.
The average person complains about poor/stupid people getting money but there's a lot more issues with waste than that.
The UFO money goes to already rich companies not producing anything so that's a form of rich people welfare disguised as "science" and so on.
That's what needs to be stopped.

I agree, and since you're an intelligent fellow, I just put you in charge of that.

                  That would be extremely tough!
You would have to have massive "scope" to determine if something obscure was worth it so that would take a lot of experts to figure out.

You have a definite talent for understatement, sir.
