Vaccine Passports

I'm in favor of vaccine passports for travel and to enter events and businesses. If people are afraid of getting the shot they can just stay home. No shot/No entry.
We already require certain shots for schools and to enter the country. I don't see why this should be such a big deal. -

People who don't get the shot can still spread it to each other causing mutant strains that could make the current vaccines ineffective. It's a public health issue. If you are afraid to get the shot, you should just stay home and let those of us who aren't afraid get on with our lives.

I'm against Vaccine passports.
If I don't have the passport will I be refused admittance to stores, theatres and public places where people congregate?
And if that can be enforced, what is to stop states from setting up checkpoints and refusing entrance to anyone who does not show their passport?
Suppose someone starts a movement to declare people without passports a danger to society and demand they be removed to special camps for public safety?
One stepping stone always leads to another in a government run by autocrats whose prime motivation is not health and safety but control and subjugation.
Don't think it can happen here? Then remember what your life was like before the pandemic and compare it to how you are living today.
Sorry, but the entire thing stinks as badly as the identity papers issued by the totalitarians of the nineteen forties.

We already require proof of vaccinations for schools and entrance into the country. Why should I have to worry about getting sick just because you are afraid of a shot?
Read my post again.
I said I was against the Vaccine Passport, not the shot.
I have already taken the first shot and am scheduled to take the second in a couple of weeks.

As I previously stated, people who refuse the vaccine cause the virus to spread and mutate among themselves until it mutates into a strain not protected by our current vaccine. Thus, putting us all at risk again.

I had high hopes for this vector of attack, but you've hugely disappointed.
Vaccine certificates/passports are an invasion of privacy. Wearing clothes are a protection of privacy.

It's not an ad hominem if it is an actually true observation of reality and not merely an insult.
Your position is simply childish and impossible to defend using reason–it is also an example of something very recent in history. Irrational nuts like you who won't cooperate like adults have always, unfortunately, been a vile stain within society. But for most of history, the majority of adults have seen vaccine passports as a ticket to freedom and a pathway out of pandemic. That is the mature take.
That so many of you ****wits are around these days is merely an indication of how infantilized right wing culture has become. It wasn't always thus. -

So, still you have nothing. You've said nothing to defend vaccine passports, all you've done is call those who oppose them names.
And you accuse me of being childish?
For all my life, I've never had to show anybody my papers to buy a newspaper, or go grocery shopping. Restaurants simply required a name to make a reservation, never caring if it was even legit.
The onus is on the authoritarian to explain why they now need to know who I am. The onus is on them to explain why I have to have a rushed vaccine if I want to earn a wage, feed myself, or meet up with friends and family in a place of leisure.
I find it bizarre that people cannot see the precedent this sets and the very serious need to reject it wholeheartedly.

For all your life, there was no pandemic and so no need. My god, you are really one of the dumbest people around here.
The onus is on the authoritarian to explain why they now need to know who I am. The onus is on them to explain why I have to have a rushed vaccine if I want to earn a wage, feed myself, or meet up with friends and family in a place of leisure.
The answer is simple (to slow the spread of disease and save human lives), but you are so fundamentally stupid and in the grip of a relatively new and dangerous ideology that you'll never accept it.
I find it bizarre that people cannot see the precedent this sets and the very serious need to reject it wholeheartedly.
The precedent has been set and in place for centuries, ****wit–and guess what? No harm to actual, real freedoms was ever caused.
If I run a business like a bar or restaurant where a large number of people gather during a pandemic, I want to protect my customers and my employees from the spread of disease and a vaccine passport backed by the state is an excellent tool to advance my interests. On a fundamental level it gives all of us more freedom–genuine freedom.
If it has the added benefit of keeping worthless pieces of **** like you out of my space, that's an additional win.
