The oil being pumped through comes from tar sands and is much more toxic than normal oil and more prone to leakage. When it does leak it is even harder to clean up and would be a real threat to our nations health, economic and our physical health. This is because the pipeline would run through one of the great water supplies in our country. Why on earth conservatives are so eager to put our water supply in jeopardy just so Canadian oil companies can send their oil down to the Gulf of Mexico and ship it overseas is the real mystery.

Nice memes, but they raise the question, do you even know what you are arguing for or even why you are arguing for it? What is your reason for being so committed to constructing a pipeline across the United States for a foreign nation to transport their oil overseas, while providing no benefit to our country, and in fact potentially ruining the water supply for much of the central United States? You don't have to answer back, just ask yourself those questions.

Thousands of temporary jobs to poison our nations breadbasket. 35 full time jobs to maintain it, which include Canadian jobs. Is that worth it? We could create thousands of jobs if we legalized heroin too, should we do that? Pipeline spills happen regularly. They aren't hypothetical, they are inevitable.

The State Department forecasted that no more than 50 jobs, some of which could be located in Canada, would be required to maintain the pipeline. Thirty-five of them would be permanent, while 15 would be temporary contractors. -

Those probably aren't your strongest possible arguments.
Keystone was creating thousands of American jobs, and many of the oil sands companies in Alberta are owned by US interests.
Arguably a more pressing environmental issue is it produces more carbon emissions to get it out of the ground than for conventional oil. -

I dont care about carbon emissions. That is a non-issue. And yes these are still good arguments. Make no mistake the oil WILL continue to flow. Machines, pipelines, everything breaks down. Drop for drop pipelines are still the safest cleanest way to transport oil.

I agree that pipes are way safer than trains for transporting oil. Anybody can google 'Lac-Megantic rail disaster' if they have doubts about that.
You may not care about carbon emissions, but most of the world and most importantly most climate scientists do. Anyway, neither of us will convince the other on this point. -

You dont know? Chicken Little tells you the sky is falling and you dont check for yourself? Sounds like you've the makings of a fine sheep.
It is roughly 5.14 quadrillion tons. And nearly twice the volume of all earth's water at sea-level density.

Now even if you totaled ALL of the atmopsheric pollution of the last 100 years what percentage of that total volume would you have?

What a cop out.
Educate yourself then. Figure out what fraction of a percent this pollution actually represents and make up your own mind.
And what do you mean by gun nut? I think the sheep comment struck a little too close to the family jewels and you are just tossing back half-baked insults with no true understanding of what you are saying. All to cover wounded pride.

Lol! What wounded pride? You are one of the biggest ****ing jokes on this site; people don't laugh with you, they definitely laugh at you. You are like a parody of a midwestern conservative.
I only intervened in this thread because some of those arguing against your position over torqued on the argument against pipes and Keystone itself. I am not interested in engaging in the Flat Earth society of climate change, ha ha!
