Honestly, It is really disappointing (to me at least) to know that no matter what both the Prosecution and the Defense say and do at Trump's Impeachment Trial, It will end with Trump once again not getting convicted.
There is absolutely no way, no chance that 17 Republican Senators are going to vote to convict. I will be stunned (to be fair, I will also be very happy) if 17 Republican Senators actually did vote to convict. -

Oh hell no. The Electoral College is essential. It guarantees a balance between the federal government and the states.
Democracy unrestricted is basically mob rule. The majority is not always right. That's why the U.S. is a republic and a representative democracy.
You opponents of the Electoral College would eventually give way to a national vote on all important issues. That's democracy al la dictatorship of the proletariat. Frankly, the public is stupid. That's why we need elected officials with some knowledge to make the final decision.
And the Electoral College has rarely gone against majority vote anyway. It's more important to keep the symbolism of federalism and representative democracy. And Trump being elected over Hillary in 2016 was a fair price to pay.

CNN said Trump's attorneys quit. Sky News Australia says Trump fired them. The truth is likely somewhere in between. Trump really doesn't need to defend at all. The Reps will acquit him regardless.
