korea and vietnam were treaty obligations. neither of those governments were "democratic" in the least. we were engaged to keep the commumists OUT or at least to minimize their impact if already IN. and if you dont believe that both the soviets and the red chinese posed both a real and a capable existential threat then you're just some misguided commie stooge who should've paid closer attention in HS history class.
somalia was a failed african nig state. Papa bush didnt give a **** UNTIL footage of starving kids and threats to UN aid workers woke up the world and the US: THAT was the impetus which drove him to send in the soamalia force. Haiti was devasted by earthquakes, famine, the usual "let-the-former-colonized-now-'free'-state" maladies and because these idiots were even less competant than the somalis, we had to act or else the racism card was gonna be a royal flush played against america's "image." Obama sent in some limp-dick bombing campaign because the Syrian camel ****er was bombing his own civilian people and using chem weapons against them. again, it was this NOT a chance to install "democracy" in syria which brought us in.
we have little or no influence in any of these countries and none of them are really democratic save for korea–but THEE version of democracy not ours– so i fail to see anything in your argument/claim of truth
every country since the start of "countries" has schemed, manipulated, invaded, occupied, etc. only phony idealists actually think there's some Edenic version of both history and international relations which the US ought to use as a gauge to measure how far we'ved strayed from the proper way of being a world power.
Assad is an illigetimate thug but he provides the russianS with THEIR ONLY WARM WATER(YEAR ROUND ICE FREE,THAT IS) PORT WHICH MAKES SYRIA AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF REAL ESTATE. I dont give one dick jerk about these people but i do care about keeping the russians the hell out of the Med and the shipping access to the red sea. so let's remove this ****. if israel benefits then whatever. this is American foreign policy to benefit us and our NATO allies, to which israel is not a signatory. -

With Korea and Vietnam, the idea of spreading "democracy" was by propping up dictators to stop Communism. Yes it was an anti-Communist canard. But it was in keeping with the liberal American ideal of spreading democracy.
And sure, the real threat to the U.S. has always been Russia and China. But Vietnam did nothing to strengthen American national security. We sacrificed thousands of young Americans and we lost anyway.
Yet, we are now in Hanoi trying to negotiate trade deals with the Vietnamese. The whole war was a farce. Vietnam went Communist and President Trump goes there and stays in a luxury hotel. We gained nothing after years of bloodshed. How was the "existential threat" of the Soviet Union or China address by that pointless war?

Ossoff had a lead with 98% of the vote in. In any other scenario and political climate this race would been called hours ago.
