with VP Pence in charge, and on
Jan 31
he restricted travel from China to the USA. He also ordered that Americans who visited
Hubei province
, the epicenter of the outbreak,
must undergo up to 14 days of mandatory quarantine
. He also directed that they must arrive
at seven specific airports
where CDC officials will be stationed to conduct tests.
He also authorized an initial investment of
$2.5 Billion
to combat the problem.
He also offered help to the Chinese. Ironically the U.S. response generated backlash from both the Chinese and the WHO, who both said that his reaction
was too extreme.
