β 5 years ago(June 08, 2020 11:49 AM)The statues honoring supporters of racism need to be removed, thatβs the argument I made. Thatβs a reasonable opinion. Anything else youβre adding is slippery slope BS.

Thomas Jefferson and George Washington too? They were racists who held slaves.
What about Christian homophobes like Harriet Tubman? They thought I'd burn in hell.
The argument I'm making is that you can't judge people who lived 300 years ago by today's moral standards.

Your assessment is 100% correct, but can you blame them? If any white person or Conservative tries to defend anything, the
dishonest left biased media
will immediately rip him/her a new one. Then they will attempt to
destroy
him/her!
I live in the Midwest and I also have no problem with Southerners having pride in their history. This whole thing is disgusting!

Yes. That is one of the main problems when you
give into the Radical Left
. Today it's statues, tomorrow it's books, the following day it's videos. They are attempting to
erase history
just as in George Orwell's
1984.
This helps them towards what they desire the most:
complete CONTROL over every aspect of our lives!

β 5 years ago(June 08, 2020 02:47 AM)Do I need to explain the reprehensible act of owning other people? All the confederate statues can go. Of all the ****ty people who fought on the side of racism youβre really using ONE to defend the rest of them ?
Youβre smarter than that.

Do you extend that to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson? Did the black leaders of the abolition movement love homosexuals? They said we would burn in hell. So? Should I not recognize their greatness because I'm queer? They hated my people.

β 5 years ago(June 08, 2020 11:52 AM)I donβt care for either one
β
οΈ most of the founding fathers were racists but in our American textbooks kids are brainwashed into thinking they were heroes. They literally wrote the constitution to exclude anyone who wasnβt a white ,wealthy land owner. They didnβt want women to have rights. Why should I honor either one of them with a ****ing statue?

β 5 years ago(June 09, 2020 04:06 AM)Gameboyβs argument is using other examples of historically relevant statues( that donβt reasonably offend anybody) to justify leaving the offensive ones up. Itβs not a logical assessment of the problem. Nobody is offended by a Julius Caesar statue, but black people 100% have the right to be offended by statues paying homage to confederate figures. They took up arms against this country in a civil war fighting to keep people enslaved and lost .
Itβs a simple concept. The βlearn from historyβ argument doesnβt fly because you donβt need a commemorative statue to learn history.
