Every shooting we never hear of a hero pulling out his pistol, last time it did happen was in 66 with Whitman. But since

Nearly every other first world nation has strict gun control laws and they do not see regular mass shootings. A six shooter at your side isn't going to save anyone. The way to save lives is to get rid of the guns entirely. End of story.

That is simply NOT true. Please see my response below.
And your idea to get rid of guns entirely is not only
impossible,
it's incredibly
stupid!

It isn't though.
And your idea to get rid of guns entirely is not only impossible,
And your idea to get rid of
drugs
entirely is not only impossible,
Why are drugs illegal, then?

Yes it IS impossible.
And where
exactly
did I mention anything about getting rid of drugs entirely?
You're making things up.

Actually,
quite a few:
https://www.quora.com/How-many-lives-has-the-Second-Amendment-saved
If you're too lazy to read the article above, here are some highlights:
Guns are used
2.5 million
times a year in self-defense.
Of the 2.5 million times, the overwhelming majority merely brandish their gun, or fire a warning shot to scare off their attackers.
As many as
200,000
women use a gun every year to defend themselves against sexual abuse.
Armed citizens kill more crooks than the police do.
(This of course is due to the fact that the average response time of the police is three to five minutes, whereas the average response time of a bullet is about 1/2 second.)
Handguns are the weapon of choice for self-defense. Citizens use handguns to protect themselves over
1.9 million
times a year.
So the answer is
"Yeah, quite a few actually!"

My imbecilic friend, one does not hear about things that do not happen. If a diligent cowboy draws his pistol and shoots a screaching native dead, one will never read about the carnage that was inflicted upon the entire saloon by the savage and his tomahawk.

Even if someone "saved" a life by shooting a shooter who was about to kill someone, what makes the second person any better?
Everyone with a gun is capable of a mass shooting. Before a mass shooter commits the act, there is no distinction between him and any other person who owns a gun.
Before three days ago, Conner Betts was a "responsible" gun owner.
Before 9/11, the terrorists who flew the planes were responsible pilots.
Get it? Everyone is a responsible owner of the thing they have, until they do something irresponsible with it, like kill a group of people.
This whole "good guy with a gun" logic is pure narcissism. Anyone, who owns a gun, is going to call themselves a good guy with a gun. Ted Bundy diidn't go around saying to himself, "I'm a bad guy and I don't deserve a gun." Mass shooters don't think they're irresponsible or bad people - quite the opposite. They think they're doing a justice.
When I hear someone say "I have a gun to protect my family" - they're no better than a mass shooter to me. Why should I trust them? Because they say they're good? Bad people say they're good. I need more evidence. And there can be no evidence for future occurrences that haven't happened yet. All people with guns are potential mass shooters.
