So if a fellow such as myself was to use the the word 'Swede' to decry Swedish people with negative intent would that be considered racist too?

Yes it would. But it's more than that. The word paki is derived from the term paki bashing which was a hate crime in the 80's where South Asians were beaten and murdered in the streets. It's more than just an abbreviation.

So if my intent is not negative and based on logic and basic use of the language where Brits are British and Afghans are from Afghanistan then it's not offensive.

My dear boy I have to profess the following: you are incredibly ignorant and I think you are severely mentally ill.

An old boy of very maleficent intentions! I came across more than one fellow of your sort at Oxford. Quite ghastly in truth.
I want none of your vulgar, homosexual barbarity! I shall not be a part of it.
