Instead of T-Mobile, Verizon, ATT, Boost, etc.? The idea of a socializing cell phones may scare some people.
But think about it for a moment. The post office is socialized, and it works great. Now imagine if the post office didn't exist, and we only had private organizations to handle our mail.
There'd be more chaos. There'd be more ****-ups within the company, as the employees are only employed by the company, not the government. And if Big Joe's Mail Center loses your mail, all you can really do is give it a mean Google Review.
But with the Post Office, they speak for the government, so they're less inclined to **** up.
With fed-phones, there'd be less dropped calls, a clearer signal. And you'd always get a signal, because no matter where you are, Federal Government is err'ywhere.
Two, think of how insanely cheap it is to mail a letter. We have taken for granted it's so cheap. To put in perspective, it'd cost $800 give-or-take for you to board a plane to another city. But you can deliver a letter from one coast to the other for only 50 cents! You can mail a doll for less than $20. You can have an object board a plane, driven by a pilot, to a facility, where it is then put in a truck driven by a driver, to another post office, where it is driven again to the destination.
Multiple employees handle your mail, and a pilot, for only pennies on the dollar. That's insane.
It costs much more to get a Value Meal at a fast food place, and less employees were involved in making it, and you're not even having it delivered anywhere!
If feds controlled cell phones since the beginning, I predict we'd get unlimited everything for around $5 a month. We would have taken it for granted and considered paying $70 a month for cell phone service crazy. Obviously they wouldn't make it that cheap now, because people are already used to paying over $50 for service. Maybe $20.

No, because just like every other government program, cost and quality don't matter to them. In the open market private businesses have to create a quality product at a price you're willing to pay. The government can put out garbage and force you to buy it.
