it could be an example of "small b" bravery in a non threatening context to challenge the conventionally held beliefs and reinforced stereotypes.
As brave as going out for a glass of milk at night time when it's all dark and scary in the kitchen. -

his point was that men in combat who show emotion after the fact are brave to do that.
and since me and maybe two others on here have been in combat i can agree with paranoid's analysis. maybe if more guys openly broke down then possibly we wouldnt be sending sons and now daughters to barely-recognizable-shitholes-on-the-map to die for corporate profits.
Crying does not make a man hard.
Crying is soft.
This stupid topic has been extended by an idiot from crying while watching a movie because someone in it reminds you of an ex lover to heroes crying over fallen comrades.
Even crying over a fallen comrade isn't a sign of bravery, it's an expression of pain. That is not "hard". -

A man might cry if he loses someone he loves. No one's said otherwise. But strong men, and strong women, don't fall to pieces over a bent fender or even a lost job. You move on and handle it. Men don't scream like bawling babies. And whining is a form of crying. I bet you whine a lot.

That's not entirely true. I know some nice girls attracted to some awful scamps. But nobody's attracted to a crybaby.

I just said it because he said, "Women are turned on by badboys." Sure, some women are, but many women aren't. It reminds me of the guys who say women don't like nice guys. Many women do like nice guys, but sometimes the guys who think of themselves as nice aren't as nice as they think they are.

Crying and vulnerability in and of itself is not a form of strength.
When you have to be strong for a woman or loved one you don't do it by crying more than anyone else. You should cry, it'll make me cower. -

Why does everything a man does have to be manly? There's nothing masculine or feminine about shedding tears. Just cry. Man-ifying crying is as stupid and useless as that ARCTIC ICE: PETROL-INFUSED MANPOODITIONERWASH breed of marketing for male hygiene products.

I vibe with that. Sandalwood is one of my favourite smells, and it's decidedly "manly."
