Nope, I don't think they know that yet.
If that were the case though, couldn't you just connect via proxy?

Yup, I knw the truth. It was free, and it lasted far longer than it should have. That's not a moral judgement, that's a technological one.
Did you notice the row of boxes at the top of the text input window (or whatever it's called. It's the one I'm writing this in right now)? If you click the "link" box, it adds the BBCode command ([-url-] etc. When's the last time you saw ANY message board where you had to manually add tags?
I'm going to throw a link in here, just to demonstrate something. Click on it and scan down the commands to see if they look familiar. I'll wait here. Promise.
              https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBCode
Thats not even the program we're using right now! It's an earlier version! These boards aren't actually even BBCode, which has been around since '97(?), though IMDb rolled out the boards around 2001. It's not even close. This version is compiled in four different languages, cobbled together just as hypertext was changing the basics of message board systems.
Ever wonder why we can't post pictures, clips, sigs or anything that's been common in message boards for decades? You could do all those on a BBCode-based board for at least fifteen years now, automatically. Just type the url, and the software does its thing. Not here. I'm convinced somewhere in the bowels of Amazon's server farm is the spout where the pour the kerosene in, and a big starter rope.
Col Needham alluded to problems of "scalability," while providing no scale for us to gauge what kind of scale-ability we're talking about here. It's estimated that there are between ten and fifteen
              MILLION
message boards between IMDb and IMDb PRO.
So to answer the question: yep. I knw the truth. And now you do, too.
