Seriously. Before the 2010's came, the 1980's were the worst decade ever.

You had to be there. Things like seeing Back To The Future, Terminator, Ghostbusters, E.T. for the first time. GNR Appetite For Destruction, Van Halen 1984, Slayer Reign In Blood, Metallica Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets, AC/DC Back In Black. Going to Musicland or Wherehouse to get the new cassettes. Cruising Friday nights up and down the same street. MTV playing actual music videos. Buying a pack of smokes for a buck, buying a dime bag of weed and watching girls in leather, lace, and denim with hair as high as it was long.
I got new boots. Black, steel toe. Very dark, mature boots. All other boots are kiddie -

Most, but not all of the negative 80s responses you get in /politics/ are due to political reasons. The sheeple always get wound up every time you mention an era with a president they didn't vote for.
Jills-Insane is a prime example. -

Take a peak at harpon-1's far-left political stance. Then re-read what I just said.
I rest my case. -

I WAS THERE dude-
I lived above a parking lot in Los Angeles where homeless people would come to beep and piss by the garbage bin- they were everywhere- UNPRECEDENTED-
I'd go home to Indiana and read in the paper that there was no homelessness- I'm about reality
while you are lies and argument and REPETITIVE greed and Corporate rights robbing CONTROL.
Reagan was all about CEOS and HUGE salaries for THEM. We had a chance for lasting world peace at the end of the 80's but instead got involved in middle east desert campaigns that DIDN'T END with the 9-11 they led to. -

As the population grows and grows, more socialistic kinds of solutions will be needed to manage things and keep people ALIVE from the murderous intentions of White Supremecy, Oil Driven Big Business and the likes of Trump Rump OBFUSCATION, who just don't care about other people.
and who are loud obnoxious greedy selfish and un-American robbers of Human Rights to plump their own already HUGE rumps.
Way to go Coach! Your boys a BLIMP, and just as intelligent as one
The beginning of the song Xanadu sums up the 80's best:
Xanadu- massive homelessness, Joe. -

I think AID's was really scary. My mom has told me many times about the day my first grade teacher told her I was too effeminate, and she realized I was gay. That would have been 1988. I can't imagine how hard that was on her, partly because the knowledge base just wasn't was it is now, you thought gay people got AID's, that's the end of it. Also Reaganomics was good for the rich, but bad for the poor, bad for crime. Poor people were dirt poor.

Worst thing political to come out of it was mandatory drug testing and Reagan federally funding MADD, which is now what every self-interest aspires to do on a state level, also had Tipper Gore's war on music that offended her.
Let's not forget that Screech prick either from SBTB.
Of course Headbangers Ball came out at the end of the decade and hanging at the arcade stoned was popular.
I guess as in any decade what you do is:
You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and then you have the facts of life, the facts of life -

Robocop is one of the best, first Terminator was good, only one I had a problem with was "Footloose", felt it was a "Flashdance" ripoff.
Of course I've always been curious how you make a movie of "Miami Vice" and not have it take place in the 80's.?
I've heard rumors of a "Scarface" remake which will not work if it's set in present day.
I'm am going to check out the "Predator" reboot though.
