As the population grows and grows, more socialistic kinds of solutions will be needed to manage things and keep people ALIVE from the murderous intentions of White Supremecy, Oil Driven Big Business and the likes of Trump Rump OBFUSCATION, who just don't care about other people.
and who are loud obnoxious greedy selfish and un-American robbers of Human Rights to plump their own already HUGE rumps.
Way to go Coach! Your boys a BLIMP, and just as intelligent as one
The beginning of the song Xanadu sums up the 80's best:
    Xanadu- massive homelessness, Joe.

I think AID's was really scary. My mom has told me many times about the day my first grade teacher told her I was too effeminate, and she realized I was gay. That would have been 1988. I can't imagine how hard that was on her, partly because the knowledge base just wasn't was it is now, you thought gay people got AID's, that's the end of it. Also Reaganomics was good for the rich, but bad for the poor, bad for crime. Poor people were dirt poor.

          Why?
Two words: 1) Disco 2) Reagan

Worst thing political to come out of it was mandatory drug testing and Reagan federally funding MADD, which is now what every self-interest aspires to do on a state level, also had Tipper Gore's war on music that offended her.
Let's not forget that Screech prick either from SBTB.
Of course Headbangers Ball came out at the end of the decade and hanging at the arcade stoned was popular.
I guess as in any decade what you do is:
You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and then you have the facts of life, the facts of life

              They didn't.
You're just angry that you missed out on all of the coke parties. BTW if they sucked so bad, why does Hollywood keep rebooting movies from the 1980s?

They're not even rebooting good movies, I mean "Footloose" sucked the first time.

Kenny Loggins and Kevin Bacon disagree!
And you really think movies like Robocop and Terminator are bad?

Robocop is one of the best, first Terminator was good, only one I had a problem with was "Footloose", felt it was a "Flashdance" ripoff.
Of course I've always been curious how you make a movie of "Miami Vice" and not have it take place in the 80's.?
I've heard rumors of a "Scarface" remake which will not work if it's set in present day.
I'm am going to check out the "Predator" reboot though.

                      first Terminator was good
it's my fave.it took guts for Arnold to ask the role of the cyborg assassin instead of the role first offered as the human Resistance fighter.

One of the only movies that cast Arnie as a bad guy and it worked. If you enjoyed his role check the 70's flick "Westworld." Yul Brennar plays almost the same character as Arnold.

When I think of the 80s I think of a Puerto Rican running after me shouting at me to give him my skateboard! Man it sucked you couldn't cross the street without checking. I had a couple best friends who were PR too! But nonetheless it was a nightmare. They threw chairs at the teachers, locked them in closets, smashed their paid for property and supplies. Then when they got blamed they give the line that was famous this past election, "your just racist." Every time the teacher pointed out who did it.
Their was a lot good about it in terms of culture, but the crimes was only 2nd worse to the 90s. It was a tough time and I gather that many of the racists on here, probably stems from those experiences of getting chased after while hearing, "
gimmie dat ball whiteboy!" or gimmie dat bike yo! Whatchyouuu lookin at mothf'er? Huh huh? Yeah you better walk head down from now on!
Like lady gaga is known for saying. Being bullied sticks with you for many years later in life. But I add to that, you shouldn't then become a bully yourself even if the excuse is, "words don't hurt" online.

Looking back at it, sure, it was brash and tacky.
But, at the time, I thought it was friggin' awesome.

Reagan. It was the decade of "Greed is good." The ultimate role model for the 80's was Alex P. Keaton from Family Ties.
