I think it takes more than a first name to really dox someone. However, it is disrespectful to use someone first name when they have told you that they don’t want you to use their first name. Or you are at odds with this person, but you think you can use their first name. It’s passive aggressive. You can pretend all you want that the other person is overacting, and even crazy for being upset that you use their first name. You can pretend all you want that you didn’t know any better and you were completely innnocent. But, come on… it’s basic internet etiquette. When someone discloses their personal information to you, such as their first name… you know not to share it with others, unless given permission to do so. Also, it’s basic etiquette, when you have a falling out with someone that you aren’t allowed to use that personal information anymore. And when you do use this information, you’re essentially using it against them, even though the information itself is not negative.
It’s creepy how manipulative people can be over the Internet. How they can spin things to make it seem like it’s you’re fault or you’re the crazy one.
