I really do believe it boils down to a few things. Intent definitely plays a big part but also whether or not that person ever shared any part of their name or their true identity publicly. If they didn’t and their first or last or even middle name were acquired through doxxing or stalking means whether it’d be of their Facebook or email or any other board or social media or friends then I don’t think it should ever be shared or brought up.
The same goes for any other information that should remain private such as the poster's location or job etc. It’s even more important when such information surfaced as a result of doxxing. Such as searching IP addresses or googling old messages or accounts from that person.
We all know who has done most of that doxxing here and on IMDb and several other places. That is no secret. That person still posts here. Why then is it so hard for Gameboy to understand why we would want as much of our information kept private? Even when we may choose for a personal friend to call us by a nickname I should still have a right to ask the rest of the boards not to refer to me by that nickname. We have all seen how far one person can spread and even modify in libelous ways our personal information. GameBoy knows too. And yes I’m aware I have also used that against other posters and I have apologized for that and that’s a separate issue. But the point remains that most of that information was shared by means of doxxing.

all members have the choice to allow other users to use their name, pictures, prior imdb names, etc. OR: a complete denial. that way, the many bitchbois and bitchgoils wont be able to start,reply using another person's info/name/etc.
