Is that true, or are you afraid of the Christian extremists in your neighbourhood?
you presented me with two questions.
First,i try not to because i flat out reject any and all attempts at theodicy: justifying human suffering, pain, evil, etc because " god" has a plan/purpose/reason for everything.
flip side is that 'god" has shrugged his immense shoulders and lets human affairs play out and human free-will becomes the omnipresent reason for everything: i cannot accept any type of all-powerful, all-knowing, all-caring " god" who permits the innocent and the helpless to suffer.
Second: christian extremists in the hood. ok, florida is one cosmic-sized scheissenSpeil with crazies from the central time zone part of the state all the way to key west and all points in between. but even someone as jaded as myself marvels and awes at how little the religious extremism is, as long as Trump and florida GOP
not trying to put a fire with gasoline.
in my broadly defined neighborhood, 2 synagouges, Lutheran church, baptist church, vietnamese catholic church, buddhist temple, roman catholic churches, presbetyrian churches, Mormon Temple, plus more i forget. Nobody cares. the buddahs and the Viets quite literally reside in a less than decent area: typical south florida Redneck place, and everybody lives their lives ignorantly blissfully uncaring about what others' personal beliefs are. the way it ought to be: your private beliefs remain none of anybody else's business.
florida Constitution is actually quite severe and unambiguous about ANY public funds going to ANY religious entity for ANY purpose, but the courts have been infected by partisan republicans who read into clear, simple, straightforward words ideas and subvert the idea of religion independent of governmental import.
