That is because primitive peoples had to make up stories to explain things, hence the numbers of creation myths around the world. These days science has given us more evidenced based ideas and theories for reality.
Incidentally, Muslims claim the BB is in the Qu'ran.

No, it is more that science and the scientific method, consistently gives us better explanations for things. That is not to say that that science can ever have all the answers of course. And indeed there are some things that science has nothing to say about, notably metaphysics.

who are we to judge perfection?
look at it this way, a person, place or thing doesn't exist in a vacuum. It exists in a system. Does it have a role in that system?
It's more like the system is "perfect" and the things you are judging are part of it.
