After all, some parishioners probably can't afford to buy him presents and he doesn't want to treat you any different than he treats them. It would be wrong if he showed favoritism towards any single parishioner. Humbleness is a virtue esp. for a man of the cloth. A priest's affection can't be bought or won over by gifts and other worldly things. -
