So when I hear people use the phrase 'plain vanilla' as a negativeI'm flabbergasted. Vanilla doesn't need to be superficially complex in order to taste wonderful.

I don;t know if plain vanilla is a negative except to say it isn't exciting.
Most stuff I like isn't exciting. Vanilla is my favorite ice cream flavor and it is needed for many desserts, but it is often the base that everything else is added on. Rarely do I eat just a cup of vanilla ice cream, but it's usually couple with something like a pie or has a bunch of crushed up oreos in in it.
If I were you, I'd wanna be me too. -

Same here.
Vanilla is good by itself. In ice-cream, in milk-shakes, in puddings and many more things.
You could mix something to vanilla and it is still good.Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear. -

I prefer chocolate, like normal people. I usually don't eat just vanilla anything. I have to admit Nilla Wafers are pretty good, though.
