I have a bunch of Grateful Dead live recordings on tape that I cannot get any other way.
Plus they were free in the form of trading recordings with other fans.
There are just some things that cannot be given up to be gotten in streaming no matter what.

Ever since Paramount Plus, Tubi and Amazon Prime all kicked off, I stopped purchasing physical copies of movies. Most stores in this area have given up on selling Blu-Ray discs.

For the simple viewing pleasure I tend to agree…but as a person that sources media I find physical to be unparalleled. Many streaming services now block the ability to screenshot their media and this is frustrating! I have an ancient tablet that bypasses most blocks…but nothing compares to the ease and availability of physical copies.

I still have some dvds because I like having them on the shelf. I have no dvd player to play them on but that doesn't matter as I have no need to play them but I like having them there. I have a load of vinyl too that I can't play. Some things are just nice to have.

i resent the insult. i have "physical media" for practical and sentimental reasons. as Fugazi posted, Big Tech/The Streamers/whatevs, can disable, control, destroy anything digital. That's not a problem if I have my media in physical format. yes, i have terrabytes of music and movies so i'm not 100% independent.
i like reading and turning the pages. i also like to mark up stuff if ideas challenge me. and am incapable of interacting on a screen ,since i dont have any devices which allow that, when trying to do a math problem or physics.
so i enjoy the best of both options. -

I don't do the stream **** where I have spent years collecting what I have.
Vinyl, CDS, DVDs, and tapes for visual and audio.
So now I should just throw all of that away and start over again and spend even more money on something I already have?
Fuck that.
With a material thing it is a one time over and out expense where with that streaming **** you have to pay a monthly fee for however long to collect it plus there is the spending money on the devices and to pay to keep using those.
I am not a retard.
I would be if I was going to re-buy things I already bought and invest more in other media players when I already have them.
Now that is retarded.

First of all, it is not crap.
Second.
No.
Too much trouble.
I would have to buy those devices for streaming and I am just too lazy to do that.
It ain't broke so it don't need to be fixed.
