They sure do like black people this year.
I've got a lot of movies to watch.
My wife saw Hidden Figures on Saturday and thought it was so good, she wanted to rewatch to immediately.
So I already know what she wants for best picture.

I haven't seen any of them.
I'm going to be in LA for a few weeks for work, and I hear that's a good place to catch movies.
I'll see most of them during that time although I have some less weighty films to catch too.
Ones I will definitely see in the next couple of weeks.
La La Land - This is my first. I've been anxious to see it and it came to Lexington at the wrong time.
Hidden Figures
Arrival.
Manchester by the Sea should be on Amazon soon since they own it.
Not sure if I'm going to catch Moonlight in theaters.

The danger of having a good year is your nominations get split and especially in the Best Actress category.
She may have had a better shot at Actress & Supporting Actress, but I think she was the lead in her films unless she got nominated for Batman vs. Superman.

Arrival wasn't that goodbut I could see it winning for cinematography.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople should've been a foreign film candidate.
Tickled should've been nominated in feature length documentary
Norm of the North should have been nominated in every category. -

This is the first year where I don't know any of the nominated, and I often watch all of them. My enthusiasm for the Oscars has been the lowest ever, but I'm really curious about Captain Fantastic. In fact, I remember seeing the trailer and making a mental note to check it later, and completely forgot about it.
Viggo Mortensen is one of my favorite actors and I'll be glad if he gets the recognition he deserves. He's great in everything.
I'd say the same for Viola Davis. I haven't even seen the movie, but she's great in everything she does and it will start getting embarrassing if she doesn't win. At least she's not competing with Meryl Streep riding on an Oscar bait this year.
And if Natalie Portman or Meryl Streep wins, I'm done with the Oscars. For good. I've said that in 2015 when Nightcrawler didn't get even a nomination for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor or Best Supporting Actress, but it was redeemed when Birdman won Best Picture. Last year was a complete disaster. Spotlight getting Best Picture and Best Screenplay over movies like Room, Brooklin, Mad Max, Ex Machine, and even The Revenant, which I didn't like (except for Tom Hardy), but recognize the effort.
